Our conversation with Leslie Ann Jones, the founder of Muscadine Press, about cultivating faithfulness, remembering truth and doing good

At The Bookery, we love to highlight people and products who are committed to helping Christians engage more deeply with Scripture. Leslie Ann Jones is the owner and designer of Muscadine Press, a small business she runs out of her home focused on inspirational paper goods and gifts.

Tell us a little about yourself and your business, Muscadine Press.

I’m a wife, mama, writer, designer and small business owner with a heart for teaching the Bible and a love for pretty paper. I majored in journalism and religion at Mississippi State before moving on to study theology at Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, Alabama. In the years since, I’ve been a working from home mom who writes Bible study materials and runs a small business from my dining room turned studio.

At Muscadine Press, we create inspirational paper goods and gifts that help people cultivate faithfulness, remember truth and do good. Our most popular products are our guided journals, designed to help people develop faithful habits like regular Bible study, consistent prayer and gratitude.

The tagline for Muscadine Press is “we help people cultivate faithfulness, remember truth, and do good.” How do you fulfill that promise?

Those three principles are behind every single product we create. Our signature Dwell Journal, for example, is a simple guided notebook designed to help people make the most of their quiet time. My hope and prayer is that the easy format of the journal will help people create consistent Bible reading habits, ultimately fulfilling the goals of cultivating faithfulness and remembering truth.

The “do good” part comes in through our partnership with Amazima Ministries. Through this partnership, every single purchase helps provide food, education, medical care, vocational training and gospel teaching in Uganda, so when someone places an order, they’re literally doing good on the other side of the world.

Why are you passionate about helping people invest in their faith through your products?

Through my years of teaching Sunday school and Bible studies at church, I’ve learned that a lot of women just don’t know where to start when it comes to spiritual disciplines. They’re often a little intimidated and unsure of themselves. Consistency is hard. So is figuring out where to start and finding time to get it done. A well-designed journal can be just the thing to get them going. Ultimately, I want to make it easier for people not just to develop holy habits for themselves but also to give good, encouraging gifts that point others to Jesus.
