Today, we give thanks.

It’s been a long couple of days, readers. Early today, the family was trying to decide when we had a particular conversation and couldn’t figure out if it was last night, this morning, or this afternoon.
Yeah, we’ve lost all track of time. I tried to go to bed around 8:45 p.m., then my mom informed me it was not late enough for bed. How very sad!
But I’d like to tell you the story of the last few days. But since I’m lying in bed in my childhood bedroom as I write this and it’s nearly 11 p.m. AND I have a run ahead of me in the morning (take that, Senor Scott!) I’m going to tell the story as simply as possible. And with lots of pictures.
It’s two minutes into the drive to Missouri. . . and I’m already ready to divorce this crazy dog. I may have told her to “simmer down.”

We waved good-bye to Nashville and started the long journey to my hometown. After a slightly scary, brake-squealing moment at the I-65/I-24 split, the trip was mostly eventful. I drive mostly through Kentucky to get home and that stretch of 24 is so boring, you have to make up games to keep yourself from falling asleep or dying of boredom before you get to Paducah.
Once in Missouri, I met my parents, brother, and nephew for lunch at McDonald’s. We don’t put on airs, you know. After lunch, we went to see my Grandma at the nursing home.

Later, there was a family dinner and some basketball watching. What can I say? It’s what we do!
Thanksgiving morning brought a lot of cooking, eating, and drinking coffee with the parents. Finally, around 12:30 p.m. we sat down for lunch. The “head of the household” presided over the meal.

My brother was overjoyed by a turkey leg. We get excited about the small things in the Crow family.

And then came a little Rock Band competition. Our band, Elijah’s Traveling Show, is really pretty good. Well, I guess when I’m not playing base or we’re not trying to perform a Nine Inch Nails song. NIN has not been good for us. But we don’t care. We’re convinced that we rock.

The band had to call it a night though, when our biggest fan and sometimes dancer, Nephew Eli had to go home and go to bed. The night ended with a little NCAA basketball viewing and conversation. It’s been a good day of Thanksgiving and family.
But now it’s time to call it a night. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. And I, for one, am thankful for you! 🙂
