The power of words

Years ago, I wrote this post about lessons I’d learned from movies. It still remains one of my personal favorites.

But the other day, I was thinking about lessons I’ve learned from song lyrics. . . so if you’d like to join me on that journey, keep reading!

1. It will all work out in the end, just the way it was supposed to. “It’ll All Work Out” by Tom Petty and “All Shall Be Well” by Andrew Peterson

2. Sometimes, there just aren’t words to express how you’re feeling. “Crossed-Out Name” by Ryan Adams and the Cardinals

3. What I spend most of my time worrying about probably isn’t even the important stuff. “Learning How to Die” by Jon Foreman

4. Sometimes, you just let people who’ve hurt you say their piece, keep your mouth shut, then make them leave. “Leave” by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova

5. Following Christ is not about rules; it’s about grace. “Roll My Stone Away” by Mumford and Sons

6. He is jealous for me. “How He Loves” by John Mark McMillian

7. You can fall in love with a place. “Green Hills Race for California” by Emerson Heart

8. Some people—whether their old, young, male, or female—are just mean. “Mean” by Taylor Swift

9. Beauty isn’t being the same as everyone else in the word. True beauty comes from within and makes you different than everyone else. “Fire and Dynamite” by Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors

10. The weight of the world doesn’t last forever—and sometimes it’s not even your burden to carry. “The Weight of the World” by Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors
