Say what?

I see a lot of things when I’m driving to work.
Grumpy, early morning commuters.
Nashville news helicopters investigating the traffic situation.
And once, a guy in a convertible shaving his head with an electric razor.
Often on my daily drive, I start to notice strange things about the cars around me. I’m one of those people who reads all the bumper stickers and signage on fellow drivers’ vehicles. Somehow these things tell me a little something about the people who surround me.
Like the girl I saw the other day who drove a VW golf or Passat Wagon with the Bettie Page sticker on her car. When I glanced at the driver, she sort of had Bettie Page hair.
Or the people with the stick figures symbolizing their family members. I always smile if the list includes a little stick dog with a waggly tail.
There was the woman in front of me this morning in an oldish, non-descript car with the Trainspotting bumper sticker. Now, I’m a big fan of movies, but I don’t know that I’d ever love one so much that I’d stick a bumper sticker celebrating it on the back of my car. But then I’ve never seen Trainspotting, so maybe it’s life-changing. . . but I highly doubt it.
There are the proud parents with Upward sports stickers, the Got peace? crew, and the “Coexist” crowd. There are sports fans, dog lovers, and proud graduates. And somehow, all these things we choose to decorate our cars and our lives with say something about us. About what we think is important. About who we are in the hidden places of our hearts. About what makes us feel happy, proud, or overjoyed.
And sometimes, those bumper stickers teach me a little about myself. Or at least get me to thinking on my early morning drive.
So. . .
What’s your favorite bumper sticker that you’ve seen lately? What did it make you think about the person driving the car? Why?
