This week, we've been reading Philippians 3. Today, acknowledging that Philippians was first penned as a letter, take a few moments to write or type it out. Read it aloud in its entirety. Take a few moments to simply dwell on this passage of Scripture as a whole. Here are a few questions to help you journal or meditate on Philippians 3.
Joy is one of the main themes of Philippians, but this isn't joy that's found in circumstances. It's found in Christ. How do you see that theme playing out in Philippians 3?
Think about the circumstances you are currently facing—the ones you'd consider good and those you'd consider bad. How can you choose to rejoice today?
Consider Paul's words in verse 3: "We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us." When are you temped to rely on your good works or your own goodness to make you right with God? Why is it important that faith is not about our own effort?
The Judaizers were teaching the Philippians that faith was about an outward action (circumcision) and meeting a bunch of requirements. Yet when Paul listed all his credentials as a devout Jew, he said they were all worthless. What does this help you to understand about faith?
Paul's goal was to know Christ, to be like Christ and to be all Christ wanted him to be. What steps will you take today to press toward that goal in your life? Be specific.
What does pursuing Christlikeness in every area of your life look like?
