Advent Day 27: Revelation 21:1-4, 22:1-5

Snow-covered path illuminated by street lamps in a dark, wooded area. The soft glow highlights the serene, wintery landscape.

Ponder Revelation 21:1-4 and 22:1-5

Jesus didn’t just come to save us for the here and now. He came to save us for eternity and today’s readings help us to look forward to what eternity will be like.

  • As you read today’s verses, how do they help you to better understand the idea of being found and what it means for us in eternity?

  • Because of what Jesus has done, we have an eternal home with God. We are no longer aimlessly wandering through life, but we have a destination, a purpose and a focus. How do these passages deepen your understanding of your destination, purpose and focus?

  • We live in a world that is marred and constrained by the reality of sin, but today’s verses picture the home we’re headed for, eternity with God. How will the reality and beauty you have set before you change the way you live today?

  • Right now, we can only experience a little of what it means to live in relationship with God, but in eternity, we will wholly experience and understand what it means to dwell with God. Thank God for glimmers of truth, goodness and beauty that point to him in the world today — and make you homesick for your future.
