This week, we've been reading Philippians 2. Today, acknowledging that Philippians was first penned as a letter, take a few moments to write or type it out. Read it aloud in its entirety. Take a few moments to simply dwell on this passage of Scripture as a whole. Here are a few questions to help you journal or meditate on Philippians 2.
Joy is one of the main themes of Philippians, but this isn't joy that's found in circumstances. It's found in Christ. How do you see that theme playing out in Philippians 2?
Paul called the Philippian believers to unity in verse 2, then described what that looks like in verse 3. What characteristics do you notice in these verses? Which ones do you see in your life? In the life of your church?
Read over Philippians 2:6-11. What do these verses teach you about Jesus—his character, his purpose? What does this hymn reveal about how we are called to live?
Consider verse 16. What does it mean to "hold firmly to the word of life"? What does that look like in your life today? How will you choose to "hold firmly" to the gospel—when it is easy and when it is not?
Consider the closing verses of Philippians 2. How do you see Paul's love for the believers at Philippi in this passage?
If you were writing to your church, what would you say?
Who would you commend like Paul did Timothy and Epaphroditus?
Paul appreciated the Philippians' gift because it displayer their love and care for him even when they were far apart. How can you express love to a fellow believer today, even if that person is far away?
