It’s falling apart

My life is falling apart, guys, literally. (OK, so that was somewhat teenage girl dramatics and angst-ridden melodrama, but bear with me.)

Yesterday, I was having a conversation with a coworker near the door to my office. I was inside the office; she was outside. I was quite passionate (read: a little irritated at a coworker) about the subject I was expounding on. Meaning wild hand motions were in play. And in one of these hand-whirling moments, I sent the little lamp on the table by the office door cartwheeling to the floor. And now the bulb is burned out. It’s a 25 watt bulb, so the chances of me having one of those lying around the office are slim to none.

This morning, I came into the office and proceeded to complete the daily circuit of turning on the lamps. (I’m one of those people who doesn’t use the overhead light in my office. I know, I know. I hate me, too.) So I came to the tall touch lamp on my filing cabinet that sheds light on my XM radio and the southeastern corner of my windowless cell. Yeah, won’t come on. This bulb, my friends, has also passed on. And it, of course, is a 40 watt bulb . . . and I have no replacements. So now my office is dark in two corners and light in the others. I may have to turn on the overhead. Eww.

To make matters worse, the check engine light on my car that I paid lots of money to have a ton of repairs done so that it would just go off? Back on. Yep. That’s right. It’s mocking me. I called to talk to my “service agent” almost immediately, but he hasn’t called me back. It’s been at least 5 days. I sort of hate him. I really don’t know what the problem is, but I really believe that 2 weeks after all those repairs, the light shouldn’t be coming back on. And I shouldn’t have to be trying to track down some dude at the dealership to help me. And he should freakin’ call his customers back!

Deep breaths.

Anyway, because of this turn of events, I’ve become overly concerned with every noise my car might or might not be making. I guess I enjoy worrying. 🙂 This too, my children, shall pass. Or maybe it’ll just make me madder and madder until I storm the VW dealership/service department and get arrested for battery. I’ll keep you updated on “the rest of the story.”

In other news, if you need a good laugh, stop over at some of my friends’ blogs. Brandy posted beautiful Glamour Shots from back in the day complete with witty captions. (BTW, the Blossom look-alike pic is my fave. Because for awhile, I seriously dressed kind of like that. Laugh all you want.) And then there’s blog friend Scott who posted a touching farewell to both his Roomba (something I’ve secretly wanted for a long time) and his beloved yard shoes. (Loved the duct tape, btw, Scott. What is it with engineers and duct tape? Wait, we use duct tape at work. . . .to tape people’s doors shut. Someday, someone will get me back for all the pranks I’ve participated in. I hope not soon!) And then, if you love David Cook and need a little bit of a laugh, check out the video the beautiful Crystal Z posted on her blog.
