I was good for as long as I could be

Hey, guys! It’s me, Muffin!

I got to take over the blog today because, well, I’m awesome. . . and also I have a really good story to tell that my Person just wouldn’t do justice to. If she told this story, it would be all about her saying no over and over again and telling me to focus.

See, boring story!

Anyway, on Saturday, Mandy took me to the park. This wasn’t just any park; it was a big park in downtown Nashville that I’ve only gone to one other time. We took our friend Alisha along and arrived around 3:30 p.m. Guys! There were cars everywhere. Traffic was NUTS! Mandy got a little tense, which made me a little tense, which made her tell me to sit down. We had to park WAY far off and walk to the park. I got really tired on the walk and walked on Mandy’s heels. When she’d turn around, I’d hop on my back legs and give her my best helpless baby look. That look always works. She scooped me right up and off we went.

At the park, we spread out a blanket and sat down. There were people singing, but that really didn’t bother me. I’m used to music. Ours is a musical house. What really got my attention was all the dogs. There were dogs everywhere. And if there’s one thing I want other dogs to know when I’m around them, it’s that I RULE. I am the queen of wherever I am. So, I’d sit there on Mandy’s lap or on the blanket all cute and regal and if I saw another dog, I’d let him or her know what I thought with a few well placed barks and tail wags and for some dogs, growls. Mandy kept telling me to hush and that those dogs weren’t bothering me, but she was wrong. They WERE bothering me. The fact that they were breathing my air was bothering me.

Eventually, though, I’d had enough. There were just too many dogs and they weren’t doing what I wanted them to do. They were sitting near me. They were wagging their tails. They weren’t fighting back when I tried to. Mandy and Alisha had waited the whole afternoon to hear who the special guest was and it was some guy named Vince Gill or something like that. And he said he was singing all new songs because he just loved the idea of new artists trying out new material so he was going to do it, too. Whatever.

I’d held in all my badness for as long as I could. I’d been as polite and calm and well behaved as I could. And when Vince Gill got on stage it was OVER! Meltdown. And really, that dog I was barking at had been getting on my nerves for the last 15 minutes. Mandy told me she didn’t want to be the person called down from the stage by Vince Gill because she couldn’t control her dog, so she packed me up and we left!

And then, I slept the rest of the day away. Nothing tires a girl out like guarding your territory for 3 straight hours.

Because in case you didn’t know, I own Nashville, too.
