Last week, I blogged about the fact that I was beginning the first week of a 12-week plan to prepare for the Country Music Half Marathon on April 30.
On Monday, I was supposed to run 3 miles. . . .but I ran it on Tuesday. After Upward Cheer practice. At 7 p.m. at night. It wasn’t a good run; it was on the treadmill, but I finished it and that’s what counts.
On Wednesday I was supposed to do cross training. . . .but I sat in traffic for 4 hours trying to get home from work in the middle of a Nashville snow storm.
On Thursday, I was scheduled to run 2.5 miles at race pace. . . and I ran the whole thing, though it was on the treadmill at the Y, since it was still freezing cold outside.
Friday was a rest day, and I celebrated by going to hear some great local (and non-local artists) in a round with a couple of friends. If you haven’t checked out Michael Logen or Jesse Terry, you should. I’m just saying.
Saturday was scheduled as a long run day, but due to my crazy schedule, I asked my friend if we could run on Sunday afternoon instead. So I spent Saturday at our Upward game, then joined my friend Mindy and her close friends and families and was there when she found her wedding dress. I have pictures, but I’ve been sworn to secrecy.
So Sunday was our long run, and Alisha and I completed our 4 miles by jogging 10 minutes, then walking 2 minutes. We hit it about right, pulling in 10 minute miles, and we didn’t feel like we were going to keel over and die. Yay for us!

Week 1 down. 11 more until RACE DAY!
