Welcome to Wednesday! We’re halfway through this week! Yay! Having a four-day week due to my vacation day on Monday may very well prove to be a good thing for me. I don’t think I could have handled a whole work week! And I’m thinking about getting permission to work at home on Friday. But, in other news. . .
• Yesterday, I went to the grocery store after work. (This was after my mom, who stayed at my house all weekend informed me that I needed to go to the store in “the” voice. I think she thinks I subsist on next to nothing and never have enough food in the house. My mom’s fridge is packed full and so is the freezer. Mine. . . .isn’t.) Anyway, that’s not the story. I went to Publix because I like Publix. It’s clean, friendly, and has a pretty good selection. So, I was hungry when I went and ended up buying ALOT. When it was time to check out, all of the lines had a few people in them, so I just got in line. Then, a bagger guy came and told me and another girl that Lane 6 was open, so we went down there. He insisted on unloading my cart, then bagging, then carrying my groceries out to my car even though I told him I was fine. “Oh, no,” he said. “I can help you.” Fine, I thought and on we went. He loaded the stuff into my car and out of nowhere in the relative silence, says, “I can’t wait until I get a bigger place.” Huh? He suddenly looked startled, looked up and said, “I didn’t mean to say that out loud.” I snickered, because I couldn’t help it. He explained that he wanted to buy some Dark Knight posters and others to decorate and had no place to put them. I just nodded my head. Then, finally finished and our awkward conversation drawing to a close, he said, “Now you come back, Lady.” Lady. He called me lady. Now, I’m sure he meant it in a nice way, just like people do when they call me ma’am, but I think lady is worse. And makes me feel really old. And sorta makes me want to sock him in the mouth.
• I did, in fact, finish Revolutionary Road during my weekend of travel. It was as depressing as it first seemed and the ending left me shocked, sad, and even more depressed. I’m not sure I want to see the movie, ever. I may rent it at some point when I have nothing else to do and can handle the resulting depression.
• I feel sort of weird today. I’m a touch dizzy and my stomach is a bit upset. Thank you, sinuses! I’ll let you know if I’m dying.
• I just started listening to a book by Lisa Gardiner on Book Radio on XM/Sirius. Only to discover a few minutes in that I have actually read this book. Score!
• “American Idol” keeps bringing on some freaky people. In my opinion, Tatiana, the giggling mess, should not have gotten through to Hollywood and I fear that she’s really a bit over dramatic and crazy acting. I did like several of the contestants, including the last guy with the sick mom. First of all, he loves his momma (but isn’t a momma’s boy) and secondly, he’s pretty, and thirdly, he could sing. Let’s see what Louisville brings tonight. And someone needs to tell Ryan how to say the name of the city (Lou-A-Vul) and not sound like a Yankee. I’m just saying.
• I’ll end with a picture of me and the other lantern bearers with the bride from this weekend’s wedding. Congrats to Kelly and Joel! (And I apologize for looking weird in this pic. I think it looks like my neck just merges into my 15 chins.)
