Dispatches

Oh. My. Word.
It has already been a morning. And it’s going to continue being a morning. . . but I thought I’d at least give you a few “Dispatches.”
I mean, I know they make your Friday.
So let’s go!
• Today is my department’s annual picnic. That I am charge of because I have served as the fellowship committee chairperson for the last year. Today’s event is my last duty! (And also, you’d think I’d be good at organizing events. I am not. I get frustrated. I forget basic details.)
• Because of our picnic today, we get the afternoon off. Therefore, I am taking advantage of the time off and going to see the family in Missouri. My nephew is new and different every time I see him, so I try to go as often as I can. Because of this trip, I have a packed bag sitting in the floor of my bedroom. This morning, I got my foot tangled in the handles, almost fell on my face, and managed to stomp on my right big toe with my own left foot. It still kind of hurts.
• I saw a missed call from my brother yesterday afternoon and called him back. Apparently, my nephew’s newest thing is to call people from his parents’ phones. Either that or he can’t wait to see me. That’s it!
• I’m tired of being tired.
• I hate my phone. You all know that someday I will be getting an iPhone, but right now, I’m stuck with my Samsung Rant, which is having problems connecting with the charger and staying connected and doesn’t keep a charge very long. This morning around 4:45 a.m. I woke up to my phone beeping because it was warning me the battery was dying. Mind you, it was hooked to the charger. I really don’t understand. I really am so over this phone. I really want to throw it on the floor and jump on it until it smashes into purple smithereens.
• I need Coke Zero like I need air. There, I said it.
• I don’t know if there’s going to be a November issue of the magazine I edit. With meetings and workload, it’s proving difficult to get the editing done. And when I think a story is ready, someone else always points out something else that needs to be done to that story. It’s frustrating. I also hate it when the design template seems to be driving content rather than the other way around. I’m tired of writing sidebars just because there’s a sidebar box on the page because that’s how the template was designed. This is NOT CONTENT DRIVEN DESIGN!
I must get to work so that I can get something done today. Have a good one!
