We all have our moments

While I’m still in the middle of the stressed out funk of yesterday (see here), I’m attempting to approach the situation with a healthy sense of humor and some good old-fashioned hard work. (No, I’m still not in the best of moods, but I’m working on it.) So I thought I’d just share a few things that have happened to me lately that show I’m not quite as intelligent as I’d like to think I am.

• For example, you know how tropical storms/hurricanes have names? Yeah, people have sent me prayer requests or written status updates about Fay and Gustav, and honestly, my first thought was, who are these people? One person told me she was praying Fay wouldn’t hit her sister. Now what did her sister do to deserve Fay hitting her, I wondered. All that said, if you’re like Scott, I hope Gustav decides to back off a bit. Katrina was a tense time for my family, since my brother was in Covington, La., at the time.

• Yesterday at lunch, we were all lamenting the end of the Olympics. I mentioned watching tennis to try to ease the pain, then made the comment that football was getting ready to start. Um, yeah. That lead to a discussion about the fantasy NFL draft some of my coworkers are involved in and Emily and I were at a total loss for words. Well, maybe not a loss, but we really couldn’t add much to the conversation. I do the NCAA bracket challenge every year, but I don’t think I’m intelligent enough to manage fantasy football.

• Last night I watched a bit of the Democratic National Convention. (Ahem. The Olympics are OVER. There is nothing to watch.) I have to say that I just wanted to see if Hillary was wearing a pantsuit or not. She was. It was orange. And I wanted to see Anderson Cooper. All I got was Wolf Blitzer.

• That’s all I’ve got today, folks. I know you’re disappointed. 🙂 You’ll survive!
