(OK, so there’s no man, but the title seemed appropriate for the little vignette I’m preparing to tell you. So deal with it. . . .And if you know any men who would like to date me, please talk to my mother. She’s very worried about the situation. . . . OK, the real post!)
So you know it’s going to be an interesting day when you get up, get in the shower, and start washing your hair with conditioner rather than shampoo. And don’t catch on for a full 2 minutes. There I was, wondering, why isn’t this shampoo sudsing up? Is there something wrong with it? I used this kind yesterday and it got all lathery. Yes, I really went through that whole circle of reasoning before it dawned on me to look at the bottle. That sad CONDITIONER in big letters. Yep. While I’m a definite morning person, I’m not a first-thing-in-the-morning person.
So for your enjoyment, some random things that have been banging around in my brain: • I’m excited about the release of Coldplay’s album next month. Yes, I’m aware they’re Radiohead-lite (or I heard them described as that one time and it seemed to fit), but I tend to enjoy Coldplay. Especially “God Put a Smile on Your Face,” but some of that has to do with it’s use in the show “Alias” and what happened on-screen when the song was played. (Sydney: Dinner’s ready. Vaughn: We can reheat.)
• Clearing piles of junk off your desk can do wonders for your mental state. Really.
• I’m supposedly going out to eat with work friends for lunch today to celebrate Ocho de Mayo. Yes, we’re dumb. It was too hard to get everyone together on Monday because of meetings and such, so we settled on today.
• Nike+ is still cool. I can’t say enough nice things about it. I’ll try not to blather on about it, because I know you don’t really care, but that thing is AWESOME!
• The STL Cardinals are leading the NL Central division. Yay! I really, really, really want to go to a game this year, but arranging that among my family of farmers is hard, since the boys of summer play during the big growing season. And going late in the season this year means that Amber, my sis-in-law, will be very pregnant and uncomfortable.
• I don’t know why, but I’m enjoying this song on XM by the Wallflowers. What does that say about me?
• What Not to Wear, the women’s event at church I’ve been helping plan for about a month, is tonight. Rachel, Mindy: It’s almost over! I’m sorry for giving you added stress!
• Here’s your assignment for the day: Find a way to use this quote “I teach my kids about the things that really matter. I will teach them about Abraham Lincoln and Ronnie Van Zandt, because they are equally important in my house.” (I actually got to pull this one out in a conversation with my boss not long ago. It was a moment of awesome.) OR try to use the word aegis (a fave of my pastor) correctly in everyday conversation. Go!
Off to accomplish something and mark some task, no matter how small, off the to-do list!
