I don’t have anything well thought-out to write, but I’m writing anyway. Sometimes it’s the discipline of something that leads to breakthroughs! So enjoy. Or not. But I do encourage reading and/or commenting.
• Wednesday nights, though busy and often meeting and choir practice-filled, are fast becoming a favorite night of the week for me. It’s because after church, Mindy and Rachel come over to watch DVRed episodes of “Project Runway” and “Ghost Hunters.” (Yes, I said “Ghost Hunters.”) And even though the weather meant the satellite didn’t quite get to record everything in those episodes last night (mainly the reveal from the first investigation!), it’s always a fun time of mockery, friendship, and discussion. Maybe at some point, I’ll get in gear and actually provide snacks. Maybe.
• I’ll be celebrating a rather significant birthday in a little under two months. I’m trying to decide what I need to do to mark 3 decades of the World of Mandy. A piercing? Find a non-existent rich relative and beg for money for a trip somewhere great? A party? What? I’ll take suggestions. I just don’t have to actually follow them through. 🙂 I reserve that right!
• I’ve developed a strange fixation on the song “Tiny Dancer.” Have you heard the Ben Folds version? I mean, come on. It’s astounding. I don’t even know why I think so. I just do. And have you heard of this book, BTW? The idea cracks me up. Because I sometimes can’t decipher lyrics at all!
• The first issue of the redesigned magazine made its way here from the printer yesterday. I feel like I’ve given birth! But since the gestation period for the new ec was soo much longer than 9 months, Mindy and I decided that I’ve give birth to an. . . . elephant. It was a long time coming, folks. I hope the customer response is good.
• I still want to go see Sara Bareilles with special guest Marc Broussard on November 2 at the Ryman. No, I haven’t checked ticket prices. But that would be SO fun? Anyone wanna come with? I don’t want to go alone. Please don’t make me go alone.
• It’s back to work for me. The Beatles are playing on XM, so that’s a good sign. Unless you’re Blaine on “Project Runway” and don’t know what “Sgt. Pepper” is and who the Beatles are. I mean seriously? How can you not have EVER listened to the Beatles? They’re only incredibly important in the history of popular music. Wow.
