It’s Tuesday, but days like today should really happen on Mondays. So far, it’s really been a Monday kind of day. Here’s the lowdown. If I were giving awards today, they’d go to: Best showcase of restrained fury: 1 angry tech spec at work (mere minutes after I arrived!)
Most frustrating comments: Co-worker’s comments on a product I work on that alternately frustrated and angered me. Does he hate me or my work? I don’t know. It’s pretty hard to tell at the moment.
Today’s #1 Theme Song: “Nothing Left to Lose” by Mat Kearney from Nothing Left to Lose
Most Anticipated thing about tomorrow: Bob Dylan’s XM radio show at 9 a.m. I can’t understand a word he says, but it makes me laugh!
Most annoying sound in SMP: People who shuffle down the hallway 14 million times a day.
Most confused: Me (A blow-by-blow of a conversation this morning): Designer: Hey, the October issue is going to press today! They want to know if we have any outside ads. Do we? Me: Um. . .I don’t know. I think I would know if we did. Wouldn’t I know? Designer: Everybody that might know for sure is out of town! What should I do? Me: Um. . .I don’t know. They’re all out of town? Surely we’d know if we had an ad. Don’t you think? Let’s ask Bob. This went on for awhile. We still don’t know the answer!
Most frustrating: I’m so far behind on one product I edit that there’s no chance I’ll get it done anywhere close to the time it’s supposed to be. And it’s making me behind on EVERYTHING else! (And the reason we’re behind is NOT my fault for once!) This is followed by a close second comprised of people who don’t return phone calls!
So that’s just a little glimpse at today so far. I’m feeling a bit inept and unprepared and OVERLOADED at the moment. But as Scarlett O’Hara says, “Tomorrow is another day!”
