Things We’re Loving

Apps that make reading easier, recipes we can’t stop making, plus the blogs and podcasts we’re loving right now

From recipes to books, kitchen gadgets and everything in between, we’re sharing a few of the things The Bookery community is loving right now.

Zucchini Butter Spaghetti

Zucchini season is likely drawing to a close soon, but if you need to use up a few, this zucchini butter spaghetti recipe is the perfect simple supper way to do so! Our founder, Mandy Crow, discovered this recipe from the Smitten Kitchen earlier this summer and has made it repeatedly. It’s light, delicious and tasty—the perfect dinner on a hot summer day! Try it now.

Air Fryer

It’s been a hot summer here in the South with plenty of heat advisories. Rather than heating up the kitchen with the oven or grilling in the humidity, we’ve put our air fryers to good use this season! From air-fried yellow squash as a side dish to burgers and fries, we’re doing it all (and perfecting our recipes) in the air fryer!

The Libby App

We definitely love books here at The Bookery, and the Libby App plays a key role in helping us meet our reading goals. Libby allows you to borrow ebooks, audiobooks and more from your local library, meaning you can check out the latest releases and bestsellers without having to buy the book! You simply log-in with your library card information, and you’re ready to start reading. Check with your local library to see if they use the app, then start planning your next read. Check it out.

E-Cloth Microfiber Cleaning Cloths

Microfiber cleaning cloths provide an easy, sustainable way to keep your home looking great without tons of products or waste. We use them to dust, shine up sinks and mirrors and more. E-Cloth offers tons of options as well as focused cleaning kits designed for specific rooms or jobs. Each week, simply throw them in the washer (skip the dryer sheets and fabric softener), tumble or hang to dry, and you’re ready for the next week. (The wall and floor duster is next on our must-have list!) Learn more.

I Am Baker

We love a good baking blog as much as the next person—who are we kidding, we love them more! One website we’ve been enjoying a lot this summer is I Am Baker, created by Amanda Rettke. Amanda’s recipes have been featured in Country Living, Better Homes and Gardens and Food Network—and here at The Bookery. We’ve recently highlighted both her banana split fluff recipe as well as her Golden Oreo Dessert in our “5 No-Bake Summer Desserts You Have to Try” article, which was a real crowd-pleaser among the friends we shared it with. We love good recipes, and we think I Am Baker continually delivers. Give it a try!

All Good People Here

Who doesn’t love a good mystery? We’re sure there are a few people out there who don’t, but it’s definitely not us! All Good People Here is Ashley Flowers’ debut novel. Fans of true crime podcasts will recognize her as the voice behind “Crime Junkies” and the founder of audiochuck, a podcast network. Flowers released her first novel, a thriller, in 2022. All Good People Here focuses on the disappearance of two girls decades apart and one journalist’s obsession with solving them both. Parts of the story can be a little grim (warning for language/subject matter), but it’s a page-turner perfect for those of us who love thrillers or need a quick read to close out the summer. The Bible Project Podcast

We’re big fans of resources that help us better understand Scripture, and The Bible Project is one of our favorites! We love the videos, but have also been listening to the podcasts lately. This summer, the hosts and creators of The Bible Project, Tim and Jon, have been exploring the theme of “the city” throughout Scripture. It’s an interesting listen that is well worth your time! Learn about the series.

Oven Fajitas

When we asked our community members about things they were loving this summer, The Bookery regular Alisha replied, “oven fajitas.” And, really, what’s not to love? All you need is a sheet pan, your fajita fixins’ and some seasoning and oil. Combine, place in the oven and go enjoy a good book, fold some laundry or hang out with your kids while supper bakes. Finish off with tortillas, cheese and toppings, and dinner is done! Looking for a good recipe? We like this one.
