That’s it! It’s OVER.

I can’t take it anymore. I’m breaking up with winter.

See, I like winter. I’ll even say I enjoy a little snow here and there. And cold weather’s kind of fun. You get to wear cute sweaters and boots and pull out the beloved flannel sheets.

But winter just hasn’t been willing to give much the relationship this year. First, he almost never showed up. Then when he did, he blew hot and cold for awhile. Finally, ol’ winter decided he wanted attention and started showing off, first freezing my car into a block of ice, then snowing just enough to be annoying. . . .and not give me a snow day.

But this morning was the final straw. See, winter had it all planned. I drove into downtown Nashville, parked on the roof parking lot at my company, and opened my car door to get out. One foot out, put weight on it, and suddenly I’m lying on my back in a small skating rink of ice on the roof parking lot. My legs are totally in the air. AND I’m wearing a dress today, which means I’m revealing a little more than I planned today. The mental picture of myself lying crumpled on the roof parking lot, legs all akimbo, in my cute black dress and cutest shoes ever makes me laugh. If it didn’t still sort of hurt.

The best part? The guy getting out of his car across from me missed the whole thing! And he could have had a free show!

I think winter hates my shoes. Maybe I should stop wearing them. As Claire says in Elizabethtown, “Good things have not happened to me in these shoes.” (Well, she says dress, but you get the picture.)

But winter, it’s over. And you know what, it IS you!
