Sometimes

Sometimes I wish I were a painter, so I could paint the sky at sunset. Sometimes I wish I could write a song that spoke truth and beauty. Sometimes I wish I were a poet with the perfect words for every situation. Sometimes I wish that I was funny so my days would be filled with laughter and smiles. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t so shy and quiet, tired, or emotional. Sometimes I wish that I could summon all the perfect words and phrases to write about those perfect moments in coffee shops, on sunny afternoons, in conversations, smiles, on road trips and in life that pass too soon and are forgotten. Sometimes I wish I were anyone but myself. But sometimes I know I was made with a purpose, a plan, and a hope. Sometimes—I hope!—I really do reflect God to the world around me. Sometimes I wish I believed in myself as much as He does.
