Working with teens has its moments. Here are a few of my favorites from today’s interactions with teens, along with some of the conclusions their responses led us to:
Q: Who is your favorite musical artist? A: I don’t know. I’ve never seen a musical.
7th grade boy: Is this an all girls track time? (upon seeing a room full of junior high girls. I forget that at that age, that’s probably not a good thing for a guy!)
Junior high girl: Mandy Crow. That sounds like a writer. (after seeing an issue of the magazine): You are a writer!
Me: So are you in my group? Where are you from? Girl: Near Lake Charles, LA. Me: Did you drive or fly? Girl from Louisiana: We rode on a bus all the way here. We even slept on the bus! (Well, yeah, if you were going to get here in time for the opening celebration.)
Me to Emily: We’ve failed a whole generation of teens. They can’t spell!
Mike: Here’s an idea for Crossroads on CMT: Steven Curtis Chapman and Ozzie Osbourne.
Q: What video games have you played in the last three months? A: All the ones I own. (Thank you, Helpy Helperton.)
I’m sure tomorrow will bring more responses that deserve a mention, but alas, I’m getting sleepy. 🙂
So here’s an idea of what I’ll be waking up to in the morning:
