Rainy days and. . . Thursdays?

So it’s raining in Music City USA. It’s not one of those awe-inducing summer thunderstorms. Nope, as October draws to a close, we’ve been treated to one of those long, soaking rains that come with fall. You know the kind. Even if it isn’t, it certainly looks cold outside, and you can think of nothing better than curling up in bed (or on my new couch) with a big cup of hot chocolate (or a mocha!), snuggling under the covers, and doing nothing but watching mindless tv, reading good books, and sleeping all day long. Pretty much sounds perfect to me. How ’bout you?

Needless to say, that’s NOT what I’m doing today. I’m at work, trying to look professional when all I want to do is nap on my keyboard, and attempting to get some work done before I get called into the next meeting! And of course rainy days in Nashville means that all of us Nashvilleans (how would you spell that?) forget every cardinal rule of driving most teens learn in drivers ed and try to pretend we’re in the Daytona 100 on Interstate 65, regardless of rain, possible slick streets, and the inevitable wreck that blocks up traffic at Fesslers Lane, Metro Center, or wherever.

All that said, I think we all need to have a little fun today. . . so here goes. Welcome to Mandy’s Rainy Day Random Thoughts!

1. Lots of my coworkers have their office doors shut today. Is it because they’re having trouble concentrating? Or is it nap time already?

2. It’s trash day at the new condo (there will be pics soon, I promise!), meaning I had to drag the big ol’ trashcan thing that’s as tall as I am out to the curb last night. Then when I was leaving this morning, I almost backed into my own stinking trash! (HA: stinking trash!)

3. Would Baja Burrito make today better? Probably!

4. Is a rain delayed Game 4 of the World Series bad for the Cardinals? Will it kill their momentum and give Detroit time to regroup? Or will it just give them a little more rest and time to refocus? I can’t decide! (I am impressed, though, that Ms. Kelly Lewis is watching baseball!)

5. Why, oh why, are all my favorite shows in reruns tonight? I think “The Office” is a rerun, and apparently “Grey’s Anatomy” is running the first two episodes from this season. Why? The new season’s have only been on for like a month!

6. What exactly does my new neighbor John do? He leaves the house sometime in the midday, returns around 5:30 or 6 p.m., then usually leaves again and doesn’t come back until late. Maybe the better question is why I’m so fixated on his schedule. It really is none of my business!

7. Why did my friend Adam get to meet Jon Bon Jovi and all I got was a text message that said: “I just met Jon Bon freakin’ Jovi!”? OK, I heart Jon Bon. I’d climb out of bed and drive downtown in my pajamas with crazy wild hair to meet Jon Bon. Of course, in that state, I’d scare him speechless, but still, it’s Jon Bon Jovi! Maybe we could talk about him checking into a new hairstyle. . .

8. I don’t like my haircut. I cannot fix my hair for some reason since my last haircut. Now I miss my previous hairstyle immensely. I have no idea what to do with my hair now. Any suggestions?

9. Why did I think it was a good idea to make a vat of loaded baked potato soup? Now I’ve had to eat it every day for either lunch or dinner for like 6 days! I like this soup, but I’m getting really sick of it!

10. How many people will actually take the time to read this random blog? Why do people read my blog anyway?
