Rainy days and Mondays

I woke up this morning at 4:30 a.m. Yes, my alarm goes off at 4:45 a.m. (to do pilates), but I was wide awake at 4:30 a.m. Wide awake and worried. And Muffin the Wonder Poodle must have heard thunder in the night, because she was practically lying on top of me, and I was a bit warm. So I lay there in my bed for those 15 minutes worrying and praying. I had to tell someone something yesterday, that while completely honest on my part and the intention was to be truthful, probably hurt the person’s feelings. And in my efforts to be kind, I agreed to think about something, which I now have to back out of, so I get to hurt this person’s feelings again. Dwelling on that isn’t the best way to start your week, let me tell you.

So I manage to do my pilates workout, make the bed, and start getting ready for work. I’m out the door by 6:25 a.m., which is good! Traffic’s a mess because it’s raining and Nashville drivers don’t get the whole slow-down-when-it’s-raining-because-you-could-hydroplane thing, so I’m trying to be extra careful and not be one of the accidents the traffic reporters are talking about on the news. I have a bit of trouble getting in the right lane, and I have a sneaking suspicion that I may have cut someone off. But I got here. In one piece. With no dents in the car.

So I haul all my stuff into the building in the rain and head up to the fourth floor, where my office is located. And guess what? I left my key to my office in my car!

So I go back downstairs, back out into the rain, and back to my car. Finally, some 15 minutes after arriving, I’m ready to get to work. I hope these few hours are not a sign of how the rest of the week is going to go. 🙂
