You may think that title is a joke.
It isn’t.
Rain, my dear friends, is stalking me! Let’s just have a little recap:
Above average May rainfall in Nashville this spring. It rained/stormed the day of the St. Jude 5K. Everytime Mindy and I go ANYWHERE together, it rains. Case in point, Good Friday involved tornados; a trip to Nashville West involved scary lightning and pounding rain; last night’s drive into Kentucky to take her mom home involved rain that poured, lightning that lit up the sky, and sweet moments of silence when we passed under an overpass. When we mentioned the rain and our hopes it would stop, it only rained HARDER. And finally, comes my trip to Colorado. It started raining almost as soon as I arrived. It rained absolutely EVERY day. It hailed on Saturday when we were trying to enjoy an outdoor festival. Brandy drove through torrential downpours on Sunday as we drove to her friend’s house for the Bolder Boulder the next day. It rained that day, even though it did wait until after the race was over. And it rained the day I left. I’m fairly sure, though, that the minute my plane was out of Colorado airspace, the sun probably popped out.
Because really, I’m beginning to take this “dark cloud over me” thing seriously.
I like Rain. Really, I do. But he’s been rather clingy lately. And it just makes me want to run away faster.
So, Rain, back off a bit. Give me breathing room. Stop following me around.
It’s me, not you.
And, yes, we can still be friends.
