My Favorite Mistake

If you know me well, you know that one of my goals in life is to save the world from bad grammar and terrible writing. (The other is to save people from bad make-up application, but that’s a whole other blog!)

Anyway, as I was driving to work today, I passed a sign at some automotive shop on Nolensville Road that said this: Persume your best!

Persume your best? What?! Did they mean presume, I persume? That still doesn’t make sense. Maybe pursue? Who knows!

Persume isn’t even a word!

So, America, if you want the rest of the world to stop pointing and laughing, try mastering your own language. Or at least look up the word you’re going to plaster on your sign and make sure it is a word before you stick it up there for everyone to see.

So many grammar disasters, so little time!
