“I feel pretty. . . ”

So now that I’m back in the Nashvegas and back at work (Boo!) and awake (!), let’s have a little rundown of my trip. I can tell you’re excited! I know you all missed me. You just don’t want to admit it.

Saturday: My flight left Nashville around 12:30 p.m. Since I had to park the car, ride the bus in, go through security, etc., I left my house around 10 a.m. (Actually a bit after that, but, well, I meant to leave at 10 a.m.) I was a few minutes away from the airport when I realized that while I had my camera, my batteries were charging in my downstairs half bath. SCORE! I was too close to the airport to go all the way back, so I just decided to buy batteries at the airport. (This forgetfulness about my camera would continue throughout the weekend. I put it in my carry-on bag of fun, full of things I wanted on the plane or to make sure I got to Dallas with. The thing is, I should have put it in my purse, because that’s the bag I took everywhere and I kept forgetting to get it out. So, I have no pictures. Because I am LAME. And, apparently, overly forgetful.)

I got to Dallas around 2:45, collected my bag, then called Natalie and Emily who were apparently AT the airport, but a little lost. (DFW is a confusing mess!) They eventually found me and then we began the adventure of picking up Laura at Terminal E. Basically, this meant driving around a lot in circles, then hanging out in a parking garage for a bit. We eventually found her, got back to the hotel (next to the Texas Motor Speedway, just off of Thrown Rod Lane. . . for real), and watched some NCAA basketball until time to get ready for the bachelorette party.

The party was fun and a little crazy at times, since it involved like 22 people. Juan the waiter was AMAZING! And by the time we left for the lingerie shower portion of the night where there was an ice cream bar happening, I was too full to eat any. And y’all know I love ice cream!

We finally got back to the hotel, all five of us crammed into my room, and went to sleep at some point after midnight. I think.

Sunday: Sunday was CRAZY! Suzanne and I had to be at the chapel by 11:30 a.m. for pictures and decided to get ready in the hotel room and make Natalie and Emily go along with us. We needed to leave at 10:30 a.m. and get there at 11, but that didn’t really happen. Suzanne ended up putting on jewelry and lipstick in the car and Natalie and Emily got dressed at the church, but all’s well that ends well.

The wedding was simple and sweet, very laid-back, just like Kelly and Joel. And the reception involved some yummy food and some wonderful cheesecake. By the end, though, we were all exhausted and ready to get out of the dresses and heels. So everyone went back to the hotel, got in our comfy clothes, rested, then went to a sports bar/restaurant to watch the Steelers game and eat.

Then, we got up WAY too early on Monday and made it to the airport by 9 a.m., where I miraculously got an earlier flight and made it home by noon.

All in all, a great weekend with some friends I don’t get to see very often at all. But, let me tell you, getting up to come to work today. Not. Pretty. I almost broke up with my alarm clock, work, and myself. (Yeah, I don’t know what that means either. My brain is asleep!)

Have a good day!
