How I became a fan of NPR. . . sort of

The coffee maker in my office is the slowest coffee maker EVER.

I don’t know why I felt the need to tell you that, except that I need coffee REALLY BADLY.

But, whew, coffee is finally ready and caffeine is entering my system. Let’s just say this: for some reason this week has been particularly exhausting. I have no idea why.

But all that stuff aside, let’s talk about something else. Namely the podcast/NPR show “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me.” Have you heard of it? Do you listen? Are you addicted like me?

I’m not sure where I first heard about “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me,” but one day I was checking out iTunes and podcasts. I saw “Wait, Wait” in the podcasts, remembered someone had told me it was good, and thought I’d subscribe. Months later, I’m a fan. I follow them on Twitter and am a fan on Facebook. Sometimes, I like to pile up the podcasts so I have an episode to listen to for several consecutive days as I drive to work.

If you don’t know, “Wait, Wait” is a NPR show that’s basically a news quiz. There’s a panel, which sometimes include Mo Rocca, Paula Poundstone, Tom Bodet and others, and is hosted by Peter Sagal and Carl Kassell ( a St. Louis Cardinals fan, which is a big PLUS in my book). I like the show because I actually feel like I’m learning something and paying attention to what’s happening in my world. .  . but also because it’s FUNNY! Especially when the panel cracks themselves up.

So if you’re interested in a podcast/radio show that both entertains and talks about current events and news stories, please check out “Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me.” You will NOT regret it! 🙂
