Here’s the plan

It’s a new year! (Even though 2008 wasn’t necessarily bad for me, I toasted good riddance to it last night!) Here are a few of the plans I know of for the upcoming new year full of possibilities stretching before us:
• I’ll be traveling for work, you can bet on that. There’s Tulsa, OK, at the end of this month, Michigan in April, Greenville, N.C., in June, and somewhere in the Northwest, possibly Portland, in September. I’ll go see my friend Kelly get married in the middle of this month and am planning to visit my friend Brandy in Colorado in May. A lot of work, a lot of fun.
• It’s almost time for a new season of “American Idol”! You can bet that the weekly review/snarkiness of the performance episodes will return. You know you love it, so shut it!
• I got a sewing machine for Christmas. Don’t laugh! I will be attempting to learn to sew. I have a lot of projects in mind, ranging from a shower curtain to something to keep my sunglasses in. We’ll see how this goes.
• I’m hoping to actually get back on track with the production schedule for the magazine as soon as possible. Any suggestions for exactly how are being accepted.
• Maintaining a good attitude on Valentine’s Day, like last year, but without the utter disaster of the “Love the Ones You’re With” dinner I tried to arrange for some of my friends last year.
• Last year, I set out to see how many books I could read in a year. The results were a little dismal. I’m going to try to do better this year! That said, any suggestions of good books I just have to read?
• I want to become a better caretaker of the earth this year and start recycling. Let’s see how that goes.
• It’s a new year. It’s time to stop cheating on running and get our relationship back in gear. Though I will regret saying this because some of you will take me very seriously, keep me accountable.
That’s all for this morning. I need coffee. And something to eat for breakfast. Have a wonderful New Year’s Day. Take a page from my book and just take some time to enjoy the day. No work. No worries. No stress. 🙂
