Five Comfort Foods to Try this Fall

From cinnamon rolls to fried chicken and mac and cheese, we’ve got you covered when it comes to comfort foods!

Our current seasonal theme is relax, and nothing quite says “relax” quite like comfort foods. So, if you’re looking for a few comforting dishes to serve up as summer fades away, we’ve got a few suggestions you should try!

Freshly baked cinnamon rolls in glass dishes on a stove, with creamy icing. Colorful mugs and utensils in the background. Cozy kitchen vibe.

Mandy’s Cinnamon Rolls

They’re a perennial breakfast/brunch favorite, but they also make a fine dessert or side (especially for your Midwestern friends who eat cinnamon rolls with chili). Made with sourdough bread dough, Mandy’s recipe is sure to please!

Mac and Cheese

Nothing is quite as comforting as rich cheese and tender noodles. Mac and cheese recipes come in a lot of forms from baked casseroles to creamy stovetop dishes and easy crockpot renditions. We’ve got a recipe no matter which form you’re craving!

Air Fryer Chicken Tenders

Fried chicken is a definite comfort food, but deep frying chicken is messy and requires a lot of oil. For those of us wanting all of the comfort and taste but the convenience of the air fryer, the Pioneer Woman’s air fryer chicken tenders are a must-have recipe!

Roast beef with carrots, potatoes, and herbs on a white platter, set on a table. A thermometer reads 73.2°C. Garnished with rosemary.

Pot Roast

Whether it’s slow cooked with vegetables and potatoes or the Mississippi version, pot roast is a comfort food staple.

Banana Pudding

A Southern dessert staple, banana pudding can be as easy or as fancy as you’d like to make it. Joanna Gaines’ recipe includes cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk for a fluffy, custardy version and recipes range from instant pudding concoctions to stovetop custards topped with meringue. Whichever option you choose, though, you can’t go wrong!
