Editor’s Note: Winter 2025

This winter, we’re focusing on a new theme: Refresh

A snow-covered forest with the word "refresh" on the snow

I’m tired.

I can’t count the times I’ve repeated that phrase over the past few weeks. From the week before Thanksgiving until five days before Christmas, my life was a whirlwind. A work trip, followed by a family trip, all the hustle and bustle of prepping for Christmas and then actually getting home to my family in Missouri for the holiday—truth be told, I limped into Christmas and the start of a new year.

So, The Bookery’s 2025 theme—refresh—is a little personal. As someone who has closed out the waning days of 2024 napping on the couch, I’m hoping for a bit of refreshment of my own as we launch a brand-new year.

That’s why our Winter 2025 theme is focused on refreshment. New year, new you, fresh start, making resolutions that make a difference—they’re the perennial themes at the start of a new year, but what I need this year isn’t a list of things I can do to make myself a better person. I need refreshment—spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally. And I bet a few of you do, too.

So this winter, we’ll be focusing on refreshment. We’ll dig into what that means for us spiritually with articles focused on refreshing our hearts, minds and souls, as well as what it means for us practically. From articles on resetting your pantry to reviving our hearts and health, you’ll find them here at The Bookery. And, in addition, you can also expect new recipes, book reviews and tips on finding a Scripture reading plan that works for you.

My hope is that over the next few months, we all find a way to tap into the streams of refreshment our Lord promises us, rather than running ourselves ragged trying to fulfill a list of resolutions and goals in our own strength.

That’s my prayer for you, too.
