Dispatches

Beware, this is not a very thoughtful post. It’s more like a post of thoughts that have been running through my head of late.

• So my plan to go to Missouri to see my parents and brother and sis-in-law may be shot all to hell. A winter storm is expected for that part of Missouri and most of the roads I’d be traveling on between here and there are supposed to get snow and ice, too. So I may be staying put this weekend. But it’s a gametime decision, so I won’t really know until tomorrow when we see if the meteorologists were right!

• I almost had a wreck on the way to work today. A car two cars in front of me decided to suddenly slam on the brakes and whip into a gas station. Traffic was a bit busy and people weren’t really staying 2 carlengths behind the car in front of them. I had to slam on the brakes, angle the car so that if I did hit someone it would receive the least damage, and listen to my tires squeal. I really hate to make my tires squeal! So the next time any of you gets a sudden jones for gas station coffee and a Nutty Bar as you’re driving past a gas station in heavy traffic, don’t just whip it in there! Make all effort to slow down, apply your brakes gently, and use your blinker. Other drivers will appreciate you!

• Random Guy in the elevator informed me that I am an “indentical twin” to a girl he went to college with. She and her husband apparently now pastor a church north of Nashville. He then asked if I have an relatives in the Carolinas, which I do not, to my knowledge. Why do people always think I look like someone? When I was in high school and had long hair, people continually asked if I was the girl who played Victoria on “The Young and the Restless.” I always wondered about these people, because, really, why would I be a high school cheerleader at a high school basketball tournament if I were a star on a soap opera? Plus, she’s much hotter than I am.

• How in the crap does the KMart at the intersection of Harding Place and Nolensville Road stay in business?

• I’m working at home tomorrow. And am inordinately excited about this fact. I know, I’m weird.

• My brain hurts when I think about the ec redesign.

• I’m praying Danny Noriega gets kicked of “American Idol” tonight. I cannot take any more of Princess Perky Pants.

• The put down new mulch in front of all the condos in my complex yesterday. Now it stinks to stand outside my front door. Oh, the smell of mulch and manure in the morning!
