The coffee’s almost gone, so it must be about time to start the day. I’m oddly excited about this week, since I get next Monday off! 🙂 Here are some dispatches from my days of blog silence:
• Two lizards came over to visit my patio on Saturday afternoon. These were not small lizards; they were large and pet-sized. Which made me wonder if someone accidentally freed their pet lizards. I’ve never seen lizards around before (slugs and snail, yes) and most lizards you see around here are quite a bit smaller than these guys. I am not a big fan of snakes and lizards kind of creep me out, too. I got overly fearful that these guys would somehow find a way into my house. Which means I would have to move out.
• God is good. I’ve been going through a very low spiritual period lately in which I was utterly convinced that I was not worthy of God’s love and unable to feel or trust that God loved me. I was pretty sure I was the biggest hypocrite that ever lived. I’ve been praying through this for weeks. On Saturday morning, I finished The Shack, then spent some time in prayer. And the burden began to lift. Then came Sunday. If you’ve ever doubted God loves you, He probably went out of His way to show you how much. He showed me at church on Sunday morning with a whole service for me. The worship leader stopped at one point and said, “I don’t know why I’m doing this, but I just feel led to read these lyrics again.” I knew why. It was for me. And so was the sermon. I needed to know that God does know me and that He counts me among His children. God doesn’t force Himself on you, but He always makes Himself known.
• Mindy and I had an odd experience at Chili’s. Our waiter was very attentive, bending down to almost get eye-level (and in our faces) whenever he came by. (Mindy: How are you doing?) And our table looked awful since we were both apparently very thirsty. (I’d run 4 miles, so I had a right to be thirsty!) So there we were, our table littered with glasses and chips and salsa, and this poor guy liked to never, ever bring us our checks. He just kept coming by, asking if we were OK. Maybe we looked upset?
• The Cardinals won yesterday! (And I checked out StubHub.com and am hoping I can convince the fam this weekend that we can get tickets to a game and go!)
• I met my goal for May on Nike +. And felt exhilarated!
