Dispatches

So feel-sorry-for-me Mandy who has posted on here a few times in the last few weeks. . . yeah, I’m tired of her too. So today, I’m refusing to subject you all to the whining. So here we go!

• Tomorrow is a day of celebration. Why, you ask? Because tomorrow is Jeanna Smathers second birthday! Yay for Jeanna! (BTW, Dawn: Aunt Mandy has a gift, but it hasn’t found its way to the post office yet. Because Aunt Mandy is a slacker!)

• I have fans! I changed my status on Facebook to something to the effect of: Mandy IS the next big thing yesterday. Before you think I’m completely full of myself, know that it’s a joke between me and some coworkers. I’d explain, but it gets progressively less funny the longer I explain. You had to be there. Take my word for it. Anyway, that status update got a response from a friend who informed me he was an “original” fan. Then, later that night, I got an email from a blog reader in Washington who stumbled across my blog one day and kept coming back for the. . . .whatever word you want to insert. Thanks, Rachelle! You’ll never know how encouraging that message was! As a side note, I think I’ll start a facebook fan page devoted to me. (I’m joking! Why would I do that?)

• You guys are feeding my obsession with Michael Phelps. My friend Rachel gave me this:

(No making fun of my bathrobe!) In other fandom news, I became a fan of Anderson Cooper on Facebook last night. I’ve been an AC fan since he was on Channel One back in the day when I was in high school. When he got the gig on CNN, I was SO happy for him. And I’ve read his book. And I’ve posed with a cardboard cutout of him in Chicago-O’Hare. OK, I am a little creepy.

• I watched Vantage Point last night, while I was working on ec stuff at home. What I discovered was that I couldn’t pay attention to either enough when I was trying to do both. I’m not sure what happened in the movie or what I wrote!

• It’s Friday. Before a long weekend! Yay!

• I have given in and started using what I like to call the “stalking tool,” Twitter. It’s actually a fun way for me to stay involved in the daily lives of friends in different places. Like my friend Brandy who is making enough cookies to feed an army. I think she needs to do mail orders. My address is. . . .

• OK, off to work and with a better attitude. Because it’s not all about me. Because my attitude has sucked of late. And because, well, just because. Leave comments!
