Dispatches

<insert evil, maniacal laughter here>

Ah ha! You thought that you had avoided “Dispatches” this week! But you have not! On this Thursday morning, I’m pretty much only capable of writing short snippets. Wednesdays are exhausting days for me! But enough rambling. Are you ready? Here we go!

• I did not bring my lunch to work today because I am lazy. That is really the only reason. That and I was running late this morning, didn’t have time to get my lunch together this morning or last night, and stayed up until almost midnight to watch my DVRed episode of LOST so I wouldn’t get yelled at for not watching it at lunch today. It’s a vicious cycle.

• Clemson beat Duke. I know blog friend Scott is ecstatic. I, like the rest of the world, am a bit stunned. I’m still a Coach K fan, though. Say what you will; he will go down as a legendary coach.

• I don’t know if it’s the sudden cold weather, medication, or a mix of both, but my face is suddenly incredibly dry and painful. Yesterday, I sounded a little like Napolean Dynamite: my lips hurt! I need my Chap-stick.

• I finally came up with a retort to the coworker who informed me on Monday that I was in violation of dress code because my shirt was too low-cut. Notice this retort is four days too late . . . And let me just say a few things about this “violation”: I was not indecent. But the person had good intentions. So I’m trying to work through my anger. But I do feel a little like I’m back in high school! 🙂

• I’m ready for all the preliminary stuff on American Idol to simply be over. I’m tired of this drama, drama, drama. It’s like high school (or work—see above) all over again. Let’s get on with the show!

• My parents are still without power. And my dad talked to the electric company yesterday and found out it may be a MONTH before it is restored. They have heat (gas fireplace), water, and have gotten a generator (actually they’re on their third generator because they kept quitting. This one is apparently heavy duty.) But it’s really getting tiring and frustrating for my mom. The fireplace is in the basement, meaning they’re sleeping down there and have to go down there when it’s really cold outside. My mom said she was tired of the dark. The reason for the delay is something about how the company buys the electricity from a co-op and can’t do anything until they do something. Basically, it’s a bunch of passing the buck and mumbo jumbo. I’m hoping the power is restored soon. I’ve tried to get them to come down here, but my mom says there’s “just too much work to do.”

OK, I have tons of stuff to do. Have a good day! Here’s a hug! 🙂
