Dispatches

Oh, it’s Thursday. It somehow seems more like Friday. Except it’s not. So, bleh. Well, hold on to your seats; it’s time for Dispatches!

• The 3 finalists were announced on American Idol last night and I think that America (or whomever) got it right. Adam, Kris, and Danny will go to the finals and Allison went home. Allison is nothing short of amazing, though. She’ll get a record deal for sure and unlike a lot of 4 place AI finishers, I might buy her’s. She’s amazing as a singer/performer at any age, but even more so considering she’s 17!

• All of my teacher friends on Facebook are counting down how many days they have left until summer break in their status updates. No offense to any of you, but I sort of want to throttle you. I know the realities of being a teacher. My mom taught elementary school for something like 19 years. I know that your job is stressful and important and agree that you probably don’t get paid enough. BUT you do get the summer off! Even if there are classes to take or conferences to go to, you don’t have to get up every day and go to work. You don’t have to reserve vacation time to go somewhere during the summer. You have at least a few weeks of not having to get up and be anywhere at a certain time unless you want to. So for those of us who don’t get that kind of time off, it might be OK to just tone it down a little. Just a little. Because we’d all love to count down to a summer vacation. But we DON’T GET ONE!

• My replacement coffeepot came in the mail yesterday. I haven’t had the time to test it out yet. We’ll see! 🙂

• I’m going to a women’s ministry event at church tonight. It’s called “Chocolate Boutique.” I mean there’s chocolate, friends, Scripture, worship, and God. What’s not to like? I did just see that it lasts from 6-9 p.m. and I think the timing is weird. They’re not serving food, just chocolate. So, I’ll have to squeeze in a run at the Y, run home, eat quickly and get to church. Fun times.

• The cleaning crew comes in the offices in my department on Wednesday nights to empty the trash. Apparently, they knocked stuff off of my desk, because a decorative item is now serving as a paperweight and I didn’t put it there. Thanks, guys!

• I haven’t watched LOST yet. Please don’t tell me what happened. RADIO SILENCE!

• Mother’s Day can get expensive when you’re buying for your mom, grandma, and sister-in-law. 🙂

• The blister is doing better. I actually had to pop it. (It was large and wouldn’t pop on its own. I have some special band-aids for blisters that appear to be working. 🙂

OK, must get to work. Happy Thursday, all!
