Dispatches

Oh, dear ones. You don’t know how near this post is to not being written. Because I’m tired. I’m not sure I remember my name. I definitely know that about 1 p.m., I’m going to be so sleepy I won’t be able to see straight.

But I’m dedicated. And the masses want to read “Dispatches.” I know this because, well, I just know it. Let’s get Friday going!

• I’m tired because I went to one of the CMA Fest concerts last night at LP Field. Danny Gokey, Alan Jackson, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum, and Carrie Underwood. Good lineup; good show. (Well except for parts of it. I was there to see Lady Antebellum and Carrie Underwood and they were LAST!) Alan Jackson was a nice surprise, even if he did lapse into artist-in-the-round pitter patter and discuss why he wrote some of his songs. But hey, he sang “Five O’clock Somewhere” and “Chattahoochie,” so I was happy. But if I go to one of these concerts again, I’m definitely taking the next day off work. Getting home at 1 a.m. (and having to take a shower b/c you’re so gross) and getting up for work at 6 a.m. is for the dogs. And my dog even hated it.

• Just an FYI: If I had legs like Carrie Underwood, I’d wear short shorts all the time, too. There, I said it.

• Because of the lateness/earliness of the night/next day last night, getting up wasn’t easy and I wasn’t into the whole fixing my hair thing. So, I have pigtails, y’all. I’ve been wanting to do it for awhile, but it always seemed not quite professional. Today, I just didn’t care!

• Sam and Zoe’s blueberry muffins are good.

• I’m running the CMA Fest Road Race 5K tomorrow morning and am pretty much unprepared. Oh, well. We’ll see how this goes. At least my fees will support St. Jude’s and I’ll get a T-shirt. 🙂 Note: I’m fairly easy to please/impress.

• I want something with queso, particularly from Moe’s sometime in the near future. Anyone want to join.

• I just heard an interview with John Waters on the radio. At the end, he said “Okie doke.” It makes me happy to know I’m not the only person who says this. 🙂
