Dispatches

Oh, dear ones. It is Friday. That elusive day. My hope is to just get through the work day and get some important stuff done, then go home a little early. Where I will fall onto my bed and take a nap. (I’m tired, y’all.)

But before we get to that, it’s time for me to regale you with some “Dispatches” from this week.Which I know you’re looking forward to. I KNOW IT!

• There are deadlines in the publishing industry that you just can’t miss. One of them is your press date at the printer. . . and we came very, very close this week. It took a lot of hours of work, stress, focus, teamwork, and superhuman strength to get this issue out the door. And I’m not joking when I say it was a miracle of God that we did.

• I’m generally OK with last minute plans. That’s not a big deal with me. But lately, I’ve just had a lot going on, especially on Saturdays, because that’s when I do my long runs in our training for the half marathon. Well, on Tuesday of this week we got an email saying we were having an extra choir practice this Saturday to get better prepared for Easter. From 10 to noon. I have to run 10 miles on Saturday, and we generally like to start around 8:30 or 9, meaning we’d be running until 10:30 or 11 a.m. My running buddy has a conference to attend that afternoon. . . .so I’m getting up before 7 a.m. tomorrow morning to run 10 miles, get done around 9, take a quick shower and get to church. I may be a little late, so somebody save my seat.

• On Sunday morning, I’m leaving for a less-than-24-hours work trip to Tampa to do a focus group. The thought makes me tired already. But wait! I was already tired. So it makes me. . .tireder. Yeah, tireder.

• I have a bad, bad, bad feeling out the Cardinals this year. These first few games have not been good.

• Missouri hired a basketball coach. No one expected this guy to be hired. Missouri fans did NOT react well. I don’t understand the hire AT ALL, but I am willing to see what happens.

Well, I’ve got much to do and only a little time. Have a happy Friday and get some rest!
