Dispatches

Oh, dear ones. It is FRIDAY!

Friday of the longest week ever. I heard someone in the hallway yesterday (or Wednesday or Tuesday, some day!) say that this week was going by so quickly. I really wondered if they were living in the same dimension as me.

This week has been long, busy, and tiring. Parts of it have been fantastic. Parts of it have been a little blah; parts have been tiring. I’m just ready for the weekend, a little R&R, and trying to see if I can get rid of these bags under my eyes.

And one way to get the weekend started right is. . . wait for it. . . “Dispatches!”

Let’s go!

• It is School Color Day, apparently. We got a message from HR earlier in the week saying it was OK to wear your college team’s colors and clothing today in support of the start of college football. But of course, with our dress code, that seemingly fun opportunity also included a directive not to wear jerseys, T-shirts, tennis shoes, or blue jeans. Golf shirts, team logo shirts, and sweatshirts were considered acceptable. Um, so, yeah. Who in their right mind would wear a sweatshirt in the first week of September? It’s still HOT! And really, not that many people have polos and other shirts that aren’t T-shirts that reflect their college allegiances. So. . . I’m breaking dress code. I have on a Mizzou T-shirt, but I covered up the offensive part with a jacket. So it appears I’m just wearing black and gold, but you guys know the secret: I’m wearing Mizzou pride quite close to my heart!

• Last week, I also had a questionable dress code outfit on Friday. I wore my NASA shirt with a blazer. And that morning, I got roped into being an extra in a video someone was making for a presentation in front of all of publishing. The video was shown yesterday. No one appears to have noticed that I was breaking dress code!

• I stopped by a coffeehouse I used to love on my way to work this morning simply because it was the Friday before a long weekend and I needed a treat to make myself go to work. I ordered a mocha. I got steamed milk with a tiny bit of espresso and virtually no mocha sauce. Sad. At least the blueberry muffin was amazing.

• I went to the Grand Ole Opry for the first time ever this week. It was at the Ryman, since the Opry House is still under repair and it was great fun. Buddy and I ran in to two of the members of Little Big Town in the alley behind the Ryman afterward and got a picture. Fun!

I’m sorry this is so short. There is much to do and only a little time. Have a good LONG weekend!
