Christmas Vacation, Day 2.5

dear Christmas vacation:

The next time I take vacation days remind me what the word vacation means. OK?

So I spent most of the day working on a photo project my mom needed done for a gift we’re giving Grandma Ruby. I had to find and scan pictures of all seven kids and spouses, then every grandkid. That was not an easy task. But we finally found a picture of my cousin Kirk and the whole world celebrated. I got all the pics scanned and in the tiny frames by around 4 p.m. And I started working on it a little after 11 a.m. There was a lunch break in there, but really, it wasn’t all that long.

Around 6 p.m. Jason, Amber, and Eli the Magnificient showed up for supper. The game started at 6:30 p.m., meaning I spent at least some portion of the meal peering around the corner from the dining room into the kitchen to see the score. I shouldn’t have cared so much. I shouldn’t have hoped so much. Because the first televised game I’ve gotten to see Mizzou play this year was dismal. DISMAL!

The up-side of the embarrassingly bad loss was that Eli was here and I got to hold him a lot. He actually fell asleep while I was holding him and I got to see peaceful Eli for a LONG time. And Eli seemed to enjoy his first Mizzou game, at least a little. Need proof?

That’s Eli and his granddad intent on the game. He may not be ready to yell out “Go Tigers!” just yet, but he was rocking the bib and digging the bright lights of the TV.

I’m hoping tomorrow will involve sleeping in, a lot of baking and cooking, and some fun. Oh, and some rest. Since that’s supposed to be a key component of vacation days!
