Christmas Vacation, Day 1

Let’s just say the Crows know how to celebrate.
Or something like that.
I made it to Missouri around 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon. I stopped off at the nursing home to see my grandma, then went home and hauled all my stuff in. At this point, I found out from my parents that I was supposed to sing in the candlelight service at their church last night. . . . so I had to go practice. Fun times.
The “vacation” got off to an interesting start this morning. The power went off at my parents’ house a little before 7 a.m. And because it’s like 6 degrees outside, (I’m not really kidding!) it got kind of cold fast. The power finally came back on around 8:15 or so, which was good, since Amber and Jason were bring Eli by so I could keep him while they went to Amber’s doctor’s appointment. In Cape. And they may not be back until 3 p.m.
And I’m apparently flying solo for at least half of that time. Let’s just say we just had a not pretty moment that involved wailing, a dirty diaper, a trash can my dad had so helpfully taken out but not put a trash bag back in, and Muffin, who is apparently very frightened by babies, especially babies that cry. Which Eli is doing a lot of.
But after some rocking and singing (everything from Santa Claus Is Coming to Town to When the Stars Go Blue), Eli is sleeping. Yay!
