Basketball shouldn’t be boring

Last night’s NCAA championship game was the most boring basketball game of my life.
Seriously.
A championship game should be exciting. Close. Overtimes. Fights to the finish. There should be at least some level of competition. And as much as I like Tom Izzo and think he’s an exceptional coach, his Michigan State Spartans could not pull it together last night and he couldn’t seem to be able to show them how. It seemed very clear from the beginning that even though MSU had the hometown crowd amped and in attendance, UNC came to play. And win. And in turn, turn the championship into the most boring championship in the history of the world.
See, I had big plans for this championship. Plans that involved inviting people over. Enormous amounts of food. Queso. Pizza. A basketball-shaped cupcake cake.
First, people seemed sort of not interested in coming to said party. People even dropped out the day of. And then. . . . well, let’s just say you know your party is failing when one attendee is surfing the Internet, another is thinking about playing Rook, and well, me, the hostess, is asleep on the living room floor. Yes, friends, this game was so boring that I took a few short naps during the second half. And I’m not embarrassed by that.
I mean we even watched the Weather Channel some instead of the game.
So, I just end my tirade with this note to the NCAA: Please, please, please don’t do this to me again. A championship game shouldn’t make the hostess fall asleep on the living room floor.
