Adventures in randomness

If you’ve read this blog long, you know I’m a random kind of person. In a given day, my thoughts drift from theology to baking to baseball to laundry to useless information. And that’s just the morning. So today, I give you my random thoughts on a variety of subjects. I hope you enjoy!

• Allergies aren’t fun. Or whatever this mess is I’ve got. Mutant tonsil, watery eyes, sneezing, nasal congestion, and coughing (the whole gang) have all teamed up on me to make me feel pretty icky. So if I’m grumpy and/or mean to you, I apologize beforehand.

• I still stand by the fact that I really don’t get golf (but think it could be a fun game to play). But due to encouragement to give it a chance and the never-ending lunch table discussions with guy coworkers about the US Open, I actually paid attention to the Tiger/Rocco death match yesterday. And was a little sad that a guy named Rocco didn’t win. I don’t even know why I was cheering for him!

• I’m getting a haircut today! Yay! Y’all won’t recognize me tomorrow.

• New Mexico is 5 days away. I’m ready for some wonderful food: red and green chiles, flautas, all things southwestern and yummy.

• I’ve done something I’m pretty sure I never said I would: eat sushi. Mindy talked me into it a couple of weeks ago, despite my insistence that I didn’t like most seafood. And we went BACK last weekend with some friends of Mindy’s and I ate eel. Yes, eel. It was good. (Then that night just got weirder and weirder. Strangest non-double date I’ve ever been on.)

• Coldplay’s newest album releases today. I’m inordinately excited and can’t explain why. Will it be as good as Parachutes or Rush of Blood to the Head? Probably not. And while there are some songs I enjoy on X&Y I hope it’s better than that release. Who knows, though, what with Chris Martin acting like a prima donna. I’m thinking about walking out of meetings at work because “I’m not enjoying” them.

• My trip to Yellowstone may be on hold due to the high price of gas and plane tickets. So if that falls through, I’m thinking of taking a series of smaller trips, because I need time off! I’m pondering running a 5K with the wonderful Brandy in Colorado at the beginning of August. I’m going Orlando for work at the beginning of September (to entertain youth ministers?), I think. Where else should I go? Suggestions are welcome, because I base my self-esteem on comments!
