A confession

I’m embarrassed to admit this, but I miss “American Idol.”

Tuesday nights just seem so . . . empty now. There’s no Ryan to mock, no outfits to critique, no notes that are just a little bit off pitch, no Paula’s random craziness.

Here’s the deal: I was a distant fan of “AI” for years. I watched the final few episodes of the first season (and cheered for Kelly Clarkson—loved her!). I watched randomly if nothing else was on in the seasons that followed and stayed up-to-date through lunch table conversations. Then, last year, I got sucked in and couldn’t turn the dang show off. And this year, it became a full-on, blogging obsession. And I have to wait until January to get my next “fix.”

I’ve loved TV shows before, but within reason. I watched “Alias” until the bitter end and endured Lauren and other character assassinations. I watch LOST faithfully. I’ve watched nearly every episode of “Gilmore Girls.” I’ve never been so captivated by a reality show, though. And I can’t explain it.

So yesterday, I indulged myself and bought some David Cook on iTunes. (music, not the real David Cook. I am a little mad about this, though. Kimberly Caldwell? Really, David? Seriously, you were supposed to date me!—I am not serious, people! Simmer down!) And hopefully, that will hold me over until “AI” comes back. In the meantime, y’all take me out or something on Tuesday nights or something. 🙂
