A blog for Brandy

So not long ago, my wonderful friend Brandy wrote a post on her blog about the time she ate bug larvae. I have to admit, I thought that story was absolutely hilarious. I’m a farmer’s daughter who grew up around cotton, corn, soy beans, wheat, and popcorn for awhile, and someone eating bug larvae cracked me up. Especially when they thought it was a bubble. (Sometimes I think I have the sense of humor of an eighth grade boy.)
Anyway, I told all kinds of people about that post. My mom. People who’ve never met Brandy. (I know this thrilled her!) It just struck me as really funny, and I had to share. Who would eat bug larvae? Really.
Then Tuesday happened. As I wrote a few weeks ago, I’m planning to take part in an 8K on June 14 (running most of it, but being the baby I am, walking may happen). So on Tuesday, I headed out to a local park with great greenways to run my 2.5 miles. And as I started down the path, I knew something weird was going on. There were clouds of gnats. Everywhere. And there I went, running through them.
OK, children, when I run, I have to breathe. And there I was, running through gnat clouds, breathing them in, swallowing them. I even wiped a few off my forehead when I reached up to wipe off the sweat. So I can’t make fun of Brandy anymore, since I ingested a whole colony of gnats.
So, Brandy, I apologize. I was insensitive to your plight. 🙂
(P.S. For those of you who follow my trials and misfortunes in spinning the wheel o’ prizes on the rewards Website for the YMCA. I got a chance to spin today. And I got “Try Again.” I am cursed.
